Michigan is played from a first-person perspective, viewed through the television lens of a television news camera. Players take the role of the cameraman in a news crew, and are accompanied by a reporter and sound engineer/boom operator as they explore the game's locations.

Michigan: Report from Hell is a 2004 Survival Horror video game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture for the PlayStation 2. The player controls a cameraman of the Zaka TV news crew who are investigating the strange goings on in Chicagonote Yes, we know, Chicago isn't in Michigan. The name refers to Lake Michigan, where much of the game takes place. after it's covered by a mysterious fog along with sound engineer Jean-Philippe Brisco and one of six reporters.
The game is played from the first person perspective as the cameraman, rather than take actions himself, highlights objects for the reporter to interact with, or enemies for her to shoot. If the reporter is killed, the game will skip to the next level where you meet with a new reporter.
A survival horror game from the twisted psyche of director Goichi Suda, aka Suda51, Michigan casts you as a nameless, voiceless cameraman for ZaKa TV news. Your job, along with sound engineer Jean-Phillipe Brisco, is to follow a reporter from behind the camera, Blair Witch-style, as she investigates strange happenings on the foggy streets and equally foggy buildings of Chicago, which...is totally what you'd expect from a game called 'Michigan'. In hindsight, I have no one to blame but myself for expecting something tasteful from a survival horror game which rewards you for video taping your reporter as she's either showering or being devoured by a living case of 'vagina dentata', and heeeeeeeey, there's my NSFW tag right on schedule! How ya doin', buddy?
